URBAN TREE FARMS OF DETROIT
A project for prisoners from our community to be a part of the community. Enabling them to prepare for successful entrepreneurship and or carriers in agroforestry. While contributing significantly to carbon sequestration, mitigating our heat islands and diversity.
Alley cropping is a sustainable agriculture practice that helps to conserve soil and water. Crops are planted in narrow rows between trees or other tall plants. This arrangement creates shaded areas where the soil stays moist and cool.
Gravel beds grow trees with more fibrous root systems which are easier, more vigorous and economical to transplant and to improve the yearly above and below ground growth, making better quality trees marketable in less time.
